Ubuntu Karmic Koala Release Party

The Ubuntu developers are moving quickly to bring you the absolute latest and greatest software the Open Source Community has to offer.  It will become Canonical’s eleventh release of the distribution and will likely be supported until April 2011.  With this newest release, Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala, you will notice differences ascetically, and there are also underlying differences in the nuts-n-bolts of things.

I’m not going to make this a technical review, I’d just like to get down to the fun.

I thought it would be a good idea to get some people together for a Release Party for the northern Wisconsin/northeastern Minnesota area to celebrate this fantastic release.  Bring your friends, family, coworkers, even your boss!

Here’s some details:

  • Friday, November 6 th, 2009
  • 7pm-10pm? (or whenever)
  • The Shack @ 3301 Belknap St. Superior, WI 54880
  • You don’t have to be 21 to attend
  • Wear your Ubuntu gear if you have it, bring laughs, stories, experiences, and prepare to meet some new people
  • There is a restaurant if you’re hungry, also soda and a bar (if you’re over 21)

Please click here for a map and RSVP form.

I hope to see you there!

Natural Habitat

So, I was working on some homework tonight and decided that perhaps I should re-arrange my room. I blame this impulse entirely on Brittany, she has a habit of re-arranging and/or cleaning (which isn’t entirely a bad thing).   Also, the arrangement I picked happened to be what she suggested during Isaac’s visit last week.  Here’s a brief tour video.

So, even if you never get to see me, you can still see me in my natural habitat.

A Very Ubuntu Birthday

Ubuntu 21.0 "Legal Edition"

Ubuntu 21.0 "Legal Edition"

So I had quite the 21st Ubuntu Birthday this year.  My Birthday isn’t until 6/2, but we celebrated early with my Dad, Brittany, Matt, Becky, and Brooke.  We had some good smoked lake trout from Lake Superior and shish kebabs.

After dinner came the TV show produced in 4th grade, “Three Guys and a Science Show,” on VHS for everyone to watch.

Following, came opening presents which turned out to be quite Ubuntu themed.  Pictured above is the cake that Becky made (nothing rivals these cakes).  Ubuntu 21.0 Legal Edition.  Spot-on with the logo design, colors, orientation, and coffee flavor.  I also recieved the t-shirt I’m wearing in the picture, the Ubuntu Coffee Mug, Ubuntu Thinking Putty, Ubuntu Pen (which I cannot find on the site), and Ubuntu Mouse Pad, an 8gb USB drive, 2 chocolate oranges, 1 bottle of Bailey’s Irish Cream with Coffee, and Brittany got me a 1 year Linux Foundation membership.

It was, as always, good to be in their company and we will do another dinner sometime soon.  Thanks guys, if you read this, for everything.
