Ubuntu Mars LoCo

Ubuntu Mars was created specifically for the purpose of welcoming the first inhabitants on Mars to the Ubuntu Community. Our goal is to reach into the depths of our known world and include as many as possible to embrace the true Spirit of Ubuntu. We will be teaming up with Project Virgle to make this possible. Our planned location is approximately around the Windstreaks in Daedalia at this location. We are putting out a warm interstellar welcome for any inhabitants that we may come into contact with!

Stay tuned for further development!

This sounds like one of those pranks that somebody might actually adopt and make true :P

  8. @DarwinSurvivor I actually considered that and it might be a really neat idea.

…and you thought you had latency issues. I hope someone thought to setup a Martian Ubuntu mirror otherwise usage will never get off the ground.

The Advanced Protocol for Relying Internet Layering between Foreign Observable Objects Lost in Space technologies will be helpful here in setting up internet access for these first martians. :-)
